Lifestyle choices, such as diet and exercise, affect how we age. Nutrition being the prime factor in successful aging, which can be defined as maintaining a lower risk of disease and disease-related disability, high mental and physical function, and active engagement in life.

Genetics can in someways be considered responsible, although, take for instance your mother lived until she was 87yrs, you are now 34- you've smoked for 21 years of your life, you rarely engage in any activity, you neglect a proper diet, and your 100lbs overweight- chances are your mother's genes aren't going to carry you to live another 40yrs, muchless to 87 or older.

It's all a matter of responsibility.

I think people that live to be a hundred years old
have been doubly blessed by God and also 100
years ago, there was't a lot of Pollution, Nuclear
leaks or things that hurt the envirnment --that
could harm people.

Yes, they are really blessed. Even the food was
better then: They had no dyes putting in the meats, or anything fake.

If you're Australian and pushing 100, my guess would be that you'd be awaiting the arrival of the "highly sought after" telegram from the Queen of England. Whether you're a monarchist or not....it's still a big deal for that generation.

my ex grandmother in law is 99, she won the lotto last year and she spends the days b*tching whinging and hating everything....although she was always like that, so i guess she hasnt changed shes just richer....i believe the only way she has lived this long, is because she spent her life intimidating everyone and had everyone doing everything for her.
