Small checklist for trying to conceive
1- About 1/3 of delayed conceiving is on the husband he should have a semen analysis test.
It should show about 2.5-5 ml in quantity, normal viscosity, and about 50-100 million sperm per ml. He should have about 70 % or more the better in forward motility in the first 30 minutes and about 10 % abnormal forms nothing more.
2-About 1/3 of the delayed conceiving problems are on the way the sex is done
-Ovulation is any day from the 10th day of the period to the 17th day of the period therefore sex in this period is best.
-Sex should be done every other day.
-Washing with soaps is forbidden as it has chemicals which kill sperms, water is fair enough.
-Washing with alkaline douches is good before sex as it helps the forward motility of the sperms.
Sex is done in the normal missionary position except some positions in acute Retro verted uterus diagnosed by Ultrasound
-A man should not come out after he ejaculated at once as this takes out some of the sperms, he need to remain in till he retracts.
-A woman should use a pillow under her buttocks to raise the level of her vagina up in order not to expel any sperms out.
-If there is still expelling of sperms, she should use a piece of cotton to lift up the dropped sperm drops and stick the cotton in her vagina till the next morning.
-Washing should be made the next morning.
-Morning sex is better as a man can loose the potency of most of his sperms by a day's work and heat and tight pants, etc.
3-The last 1/3 of delayed conceiving is on the woman.
-Ultrasound sonar checkup to make sure that the uterus is of normal size and contour
-Ultrasound sonar checkup to make sure that the ovaries are of normal consistency and size.
-If your cycle is irregular , a 3rd day FSH, LH , E2 , PROLACTIN and the 21st day of the cycle PROGESTERONE are made to see if you need any hormonal therapy.
-Ensuring that there are no vaginal infection as this alone can result in delay.
Afterwards if delays happen, other kind of tests can be made on a different level, e.g. hysterosalpingiogram, antibodies, etc...

If you're still young (under 30) then just enjoy the unprotected sex and don't worry specifically about getting pregnant (but make sure you get enough folic acid, in case you do get pregnant).
If you're over 30, then read up about things like ovulating testing kits and how to track your basal body temperature. After some time (6 months if you're over 35, 1 year otherwise) see a doctor so they can help you figure out why you're not pregnant yet. But don't stress about it!
Good luck!

ok, let me tell you what I did, I had irregular periods and it was towards the end of the month and I hadn't had my period yet, so i figured that I would buy an ovulation kit, I did and it said that i was ovulating, so that night I dressed up in a sexy outfit and just did it as much as i could! And sure enough, the next month we found out I was pregnant. Good luck sweetie!

Hi- I am in exactly the same boat and have been trying to get up the duff too. I am now seeing a fertility specialist naturopath - and they can get you regular! They also help with tracking ovulation.
Apparently the reason I have been irregular is an adrenal system issue, and that can effect a healthy pregnancy too.
Check out the website below to get more info.

Just enjoy sex like you normally would. Don't do it thinking i want to get pregnant just do it because you want to. That is what worked for me and i have 2 girls 18 months apart. i never did any ovulation tracking or anything like that.

It's best to have sex every other day so that you don't deplete your partners sperm.
Also, it helps to know when you are fertile and when you are not. I suggest tracking your BBT, CM/CP, and being aware of your body more.
