I just started taking Levlen this month, which is a form of birth control pill that has 3 weeks of combination pills and 1 week of placebos for which the period's supposed to take place in. I've had long cycles before, usually 35 days as opposed to the 28 that the pill promotes. My period is late for this set of placebos, and my question is if this is normal, or if I should be concerned that my period hasn't started yet. I've used condoms in addition to the pill all month, so I doubt I'm pregnant.

If you took the pills exactly the way you were supposed to, there should be no problems. It could simply be that your body's adjusting to the pills and it may take a couple months for you to level out and get a normal 28-day cycle going. If you have delays again next month, give your doc a call and see what he/she has to say. You may need to switch to a different pill, but I doubt it. I think you'll regulate soon.

How late? My cycle before I went on birth control pills was 7 weeks long (35 days sounds so normal to me!). When I was on the pill, I would usually get my period on the third day of placebos. If you're much later than that you may want to ask your doctor about it.

I have taken the a 3 week on pill with one week off before and most of my periods would not start until the 5th or 6th day of the placebo. Remember eveyones body is different.

If you do not think your pregnant just give it a few more days. Stress or stressing about it could only continue to delay your period. So if it is really bothering you just go ahead and take the test so you can get it off your mind.

It takes about a month for your body to adjust to the pill system if your cycle is longer than 28 days. The next pack you should be menstruating at the right time.

When I first started the pill, it took me one pack to get used to the pills system because I would go 31 days if I had a period.

I agree with the other answers. I have been on this exact same pill for a few years, and it works very well for me. However, starting on it, coming off it, and maybe going back on again, I have always taken at least one cycle, maybe two to be running like clockwork, and if you take it right and you#re anything like me, you will do just that. Even down to the hour!

This prescription may be too strong for you. Check with your doctor right away. What the pill does is to fool your body into thinking it is pregnant to suppress future ovulations. You may need a different birth control pill.

It can take 2-3 days for your period to start when you start taking the placebos...so you are probably still safe!!
