A 4.3 is a proven design, and will inter-change a lot of models a 4.2 is a inline all aluminum engine that is expensive to replace and really does not perform any better, and only fits a few models.

I have a trailblazer with the 4.2 and it's a great engine, I also had a blazer with the 4.3 and it was also a good engine but the 4.2 has a lot more hp. and it would run that 4.3 in the ground.

I would say Chevy 4.3 V6,
If the 4.2 is the engine that I am thinking of: Pontiac Quad4, It is an absolute P.O.S.

the quad four is a 2.3L and it is not a P.O.S. The 4.3L is a better engine.

The 4.2 has more horses. They torque out the same.
