How long does it usually take her to clean your apartment. If it takes more than 4 hours then do not tip her because she is probably slacking if your apartment is not in that bad shape. But if it takes less than that you probably should tip her.. if its like 3 hours that she takes then tip her how ever much it takes to get a number with a 0 on the end.. ie... if she took 2 hours cleaning that is $26 but pay her 30.

Of course, you should tip your cleaning person....there is a lot more going on than just the cleaning of your personal space, you are trusting this person into your home, not to snoop or steal from you, all this said and done, deserves incentive rewards such as tips. I was in the personal home service industry for 12 years, my tips usually came at the end of the year, for weekly cleanings I generally generated $150.00 to $175.00 bonus or tip for the entire year per client. You are getting a deal for $13.00 per hr., in Montana the going is rate is no less than $15.00 per hour and this does not include things like window washing, oven cleaning, etc.

Even for NY, that sounds like a generous amount. A tip is not necessary. A weeks pay at Christmas is standard along with a small gift. A for her birthday you could give a few extra dollars or a gift of some kind, but it wouldn't be out of order if you didn't.

Yes, you should definately tip her at Christmas. You should give her a 250 dollars and a box of chocolates on Christmas, since you are paying her so little. Or at least a days wage bonus.

If she does a good job and is trustworthy I would tip her. Besides 13$ an hour in Queens doesn't even compare to minimum wage up here by Albany. Good help is hard to find and even more important to keep.

If you pay $13 an hour directly to her, there is no reason to tip her.
If she works for a cleaning company though, I would!
