Oh, c'mon people, what are you talking about? What Nordiques?!? That was a team from Quebec City. The team bought by an American is Montreal Canadiens. George Gillett, Jr. bought them from Molson Inc. in 2001, for 275 Million CAD. And oh, another small detail: Mr. Gillett is American, but Canadiens are still in Montreal and THEY WILL NEVER LEAVE!

I'm a Montrealer, and I remember that when the Nordiques moved from Quebec to Colorado in 95 it caused a major crisis here ;)
Anyway there was so much competition between Montreal and Quebec City, we're better off with one single team in the province... Back in the day if you ever attended a Nordique game wearing a Canadien shirt, for sure someone would've slashed a hole in your car tires before the end of the game... yup, it really was that ugly ;)

Your question is a bit vague. The Canadiens are still in Montreal.
You could be referring to the Quebec Nordiques that moved to Colorado and became the Avalanche in 1995 or like the guy above said maybe your talking about the Expo's (baseball) and they were moved to DC and named the Washington Nationals in 2005.
Your right misen55! I was thinking moved teams, not sure why cuz the question mentions nothing about moving. But you're right the correct answer is the Habs!

The Quebec Nordiques moved to Colorado and become the Avalanche between the 94-95 and 95-96 seasons. The Avalanche then went on to win the Stanley Cup that year in Denver.

Uh, the Maroons? Uh, the Wanderers? Uh, the Jr. Canadiens of the '60s? Geez, only one NHL team in Montreal now so who could it be? Oh, yeah, the team that is now 13 seasons without a Cup and counting...they must be jumping off bridges with that drought in Mont Royal.
