Perhaps they should lead us into Two World wars, vietnam, korea, the gulf war (twice) a cold war, trade embargos and environmental diasters, massive waste, pollution and inequlaity. Oh sorry your generation has already done that cheers

What generation has everything? Happiness, health, freedom for everyone. I don't know of any generation that had those three things and while health is relative, happiness is personal, and freedom is suppose to be guaranteed there isn't a single group of people that embodied all 3 qualities. 1700's had to fight for it and women and minorities didn't count, 1800's had to just survive and freedom/happiness was scarce for minorities and women, early 1900's there was WWI and depression which meant survival was the only thing most people were doing., then later there was WW2, 1950's-1970's you had civil rights movements, the communism scare, Korean War, Vietnam War, women's movement. Hell, that whole generation grew up fighting just to get some freedom or to keep it not to mention there was major drug experimentation in the 60's-70's. 1980's-1990's have been about bigger economy, more money, economic and educational equality (and their not even close on solving that), continuing women and minority rights movements. I think to some degree the other generations had it harder but none of those generations solved the true disease of hate, angre and poverty nor did those generations develop very many accurate and fair tools to help know how to solve those problems. Most of the problems that exist today existed for the past generations as well. They just weren't showcased like they are now. When all you do is uncover the problem and apply the smallest bandaid possible, the problem will persist and get uglier and more vulgar. You can see the problems that need to be solved like people trying to raise a child without a solid plan, good tools/resources or simply good reasons for having a child in the first place, poverty (better yet develop a system that doesn't need any kind of money system), hate and miscommunication are huge obstacles and if a lot more people worked on those 4 problems to develop tools that could truly help 90% of the population then this generation could fix its problems and the next one probably wouldn't have as many problems.

This is not an original question. At any given time in mans history each generation looks on the other generation as bent on self destruction. But one this is certain, life does go on and man does survive. Man has survived for eons and will continue to survive. Each generation has it's ills but youth soon grows into wisdom and each generation looks down to see the oddities of the other. It has been that way also for eons. Why do you look at the negative in the world? If you are truly the philosopher you think you would see that the negative part of this generation is only a small percentage of the positive of this generation. Stand Back and look at the whole picture, as it is the only the few lost souls that are shown to the masses and make you think that the generation is lost. Expand your positive and decrease your negativity.

Not all kids are like that, in fact, most aren't. You only hear about the bad cases.
Yes, there's going to be drug use. But hasn't there always been? I know for a fact, drug dealing was an issue.
The generation depends upon the smart, honors students, who are quickly rising. The generation is smarter then other generations. We're learning things at an earlier age, and learning more in the end.
If you only focus on the bad kids, you'll get nowhere. If you focus on the good kids, you'll see a very promising generation.

Because familes are messed up, lives are messed up, nothing makes sence and we need a fix....you'd be surprised how far we'd go to be able to smile.
Nowhere Kids (By Smile Empty Soul)
in the land of dirt and plaster
lies an army of a thousand nowhere kids
losing ground and falling faster
into a life that no one should have to live
(Chorus)
we are the people that you hate
we are the b**tards that you created
a generation with no place
a generation of all your sons and daughters
behind the fake family image
behind the smile of a thousand moms and dads
inside the cage that we've been given
i see an image of the future that we don't have
((Chorus 2x))
and what did you expect ... a perfect child?
raised by tv sets ... abandoned every mile
we never get respect ... never a fair trial
no one gives a sh** ... as long as we smile... smile...smile!!!
((Chorus 2x))

It could be that these people who dwell on the negative don't see it as such. It's an easy means for them to get their quick fix. It could be a concept from another world that these folks relate negativity to. People are like "squirrels trying to get a nut" Consequence means nothing to them. And because of their behavior, we that do see the good side, are jaded. Yes, most of us speak negativily on a daily basis. I guess one of the things that our high schools and colleges have failed to provide, are positive and motivational classes or workshops. If you drill a concept into an impressionable mind, 9 out of 10 times it will stick and become the format for which they base their lives.

1. All the generations have their juevenile period of irresponsibility.
2. Then, they grow up & face the world of reality.
3. In the 1920s, what about all those irresponsible young people making bathtub gin that made some go blind? The wild parties, and loose young women known as 'Flappers'?
4. Drugs, excessive use of alcohol, compulsive sex, etc. — they're all just ways of prolonging adolescence.
Good Luck and Warm Regards.

i do no longer think of we've been designed to self destruct, yet oh how i admire the 2d area! I, & somebody on the fringe of me have beating our heads interior the wall to rouse some interest in ANTIMATTER, it is in essence, no longer something. So, particular particular, we got here from no longer something, & will flow back to no longer something. the finished concept of antimatter could be completely nicely suited with Genesis. does no longer or no longer that is mind-blowing to no longer be in conflict anymore? The unanswerable question is, how could desire to we understand "no longer something" from "here?" A fact of nature: each and every thing has an opposite, protons have electrons. Up-quarks have down-quarks. there's a cosmic symmetry on the subatomic point. Antimatter is "yin" to count's "yang." It balances. i think all of us flow back to "no longer something" in that experience. i honestly do no longer opt for to stay on how all and sundry is self destructing, it is they're destroying the earth with increasing acceleration, & shabarack's answer become dazzling. What a ponderous question--what could we do devoid of you to enhance our minds?

because of peoples lack of faith in something higher more important than themselves. we are told that we are to express ourselves no matter what and not to worry about the other guy because if he's not happy its his own fault for not wanting to be happy enough. I THINK THAT IS ALL BUNK! People need to have faith in someone hogher than themselves(GOD). I don't care which road people take to His house as long as they get there. If more people knew God there would be less negativity and bunk in the world.
