Can you believe this - the other night there was loads of teens gobbing off outside my house and then this loud banging noise. So I looked out the window and the police were there following them down the road walking, and this teen was kicking every car on the road as hard as he could as he walked past and the police did nothing just said calm down. Anyway as I had the light on in the bedroom the policeman see me looking out the window and gave me a sarcastic wave and smiled as if I shouldn't be looking! So I went out there and said about this kid kicking the cars and he said don't worry about it his drunk so I made him give me his torch and check every single car down my road cos I said if they were damaged then he'd pay for them!! Talk about helpful police or am I wrong????

You did absolutely the right thing - Well done.
Many police just want to work their shift and go home.
You should take it further and complain that this PC had witnessed acts of criminal damage and turned a blind eye.

After all, your taxes keeps him in a job.

What a brave neighbour for anyone to have! How public spirited of you! I hope you took that police officer's number in case in the light of day there is some damage which you were unable to pick out in the dark!

That youngster should have been arrested for being drunk and disorderly and produced in court the next morning. Maybe the policeman had other plans for the following morning and didn't want to take him to court?

Just think of the paperwork the copper would of had to do for both the chav and all those cars. Much easier to just move him along then let him go. Then go of and catch a couple of people doing a couple of mph over the limit on an empty road. You're not expecting justice in Blair's Britain are you?

Unfortunately, we have a bunch of cops who are much less useful than slugs. It is always nice to see citizens step up and look out for others, especially when the cops aren't.

thats because the police are non powerful anymore.. chavs are just a menace and they feel obliged to do there jobs.. i know where you are coming from. my friends and i have been mugged by yobs the police have turned up said who's phone is this and they let them get away with it... the constabulary are a let down they are too busy trying to catch speeders and low life's..

why not sort our streets out so people can feel safe in their homes again. i ask you katie to email me im making an alliance against yob culture thank you.

This situation is getting out of hand why are we giving yobs youth centers etc.? they will only wreck them and go out drinking underage and doing drugs TONY BLAIR SORT OUT YOUR COUNTRY...

I'm sick of people being politically correct bring back civil justice and lets stand up for once against those tax scumming losers please people agree with this. Katie thanks for telling us your question.

This country is a disgrace we let people get away with murder. In my town an elderly lady lost her leg after a *drunk taxi* drivers crashed into her he got £120 fine and 3 points on his license i mean for christs sake

(i actual don't think in reincarnation yet this thought has crossed my suggestions by way of detrimental success that seems to continuously save on with me). thank you!

your very stupid/uninformed..I don't mean this in a rude way what I mean is the police were trying to diffuse the situation, do not be surprised when the yob returns and puts all your windows through because they saw and heard you or worse makes a physical attack on you and you end up in hospital - sometimes its better just to let them get on with it and hope that it is controlled before it goes further than kicking a few cars, would you really prefer the police to have firearms and to find out they had just shot one of your relatives for bieng a yob
