Are Americas in denial?

Seriously whats wrong with our society. We guarantee all these freedoms and rights, yet we're still way messed up. Slaughterin Amish schoolgirls execution style? Babies born addicted to crack and PCP? Kids bringing guns to school? Politicians and priests exhibintg hypocritical behavior (i.e. anti-gays going on gay chats and priests forcing little boys to suck them off). Hate crime, self mutilation, mental disorders on the rise, dependence on drugs, blowing off opur money on big environment killing cars and ticky tacky houses just so people can hide behind an illusion of 'normalness' when really, NOBODY is?

Does anyone else see this? People are in denial about everything. They don't even know themselves. Actually, they do, they just don't accept it. All these problems are not the inevitable 'bad' parts of society - they're the result of the bad parts of society.

What does freedoms and rights have to do with the everlasting crime waves in this country?
Because you have the freedom of religion, it means youre safe from some sick azzhole from holding you at gunpoint and using you as a bulletproof vest in a hostage crisis? NO
Because you have the freedom of speech, it means your kids are safe from sexual predators on the internet or nutjob homosexual priests? NO

Im not in denial, i know that. We live in a society where TomKat and Paris' sex romps are front page news, rather than discussing tactics to keep our society somewhat civil. We dwell on political scandal, rather than the achievements of the elected officials.
I feel your anger, but i'm not gonna sit and dwell on it til im sick. Is that what you call denial? Then thats me. But im kept abreast of news and try to live a safe life with caution for my family.

I think you watch too much TV, which focuses on the deviant, the abnormal because it is the exception. The norm is that millions of kids daily go to school just fine, without guns. A few politicians are corrupt, and while many priests are gay, fact is few are pedophiles.

Normal is still Joe and Jane America going to work, getting a paycheck, trying to live and sometimes raise a family and hope for a life everlasting after death.

first of all the main problem is that this country is run by a bunch of rich old men.they plunder,rape,and destroy the earth and all its resources to line thier pockets knowing full well that they will be dead long before the world comes to an end.... so what do they care what destruction,and sickness was they bi product of thier greed.they over develop the land killing off the animal population destroying the natural order of things.the create diseases and know the cure but wont produce the cures because it would put too many out of work.they start wars to kill off the excess population to better the economy.they have more money than thier great-great-great grandchildren could ever spend while the poor die of starvation.this country is in decline and we are powerless to stop it..so deal with it.

It not just America that is messed up, it is all over the world and the environment has gone to pot as well. For all this to be corrected, there needs to be massive changes, in which man may not want to have to go through, but will have to, in order to correct what is wrong in this world and the changes won't be nice. It would probably involve massive upheaval and a total change in the way we live today. It is so obvious.

I think it has alot to go with the president and our governments... if the kids have more things to do then they would not get in to as much trouble. People are in titled to be the way they want... just because people dont like gays or stuff like that does not make them bad people.. and no one can change he way they feel... there is only 1 thing that we can do about it.. RAISE OUR KIDS RIGHT AND DONT GET INVOLVED IN DRUGS AND POLITICS

I agree with Juniper. I am also american and ashamed of what is happening to us. We have become too self rightous and materialistic. We need to get our morals back and our priorities straight!
