you need to go to start.....program files.....accessories.....system tools.......disc cleanup, then you need to repeat the process, and go to defrag..........once you have done the above, you need to scan for spyware and viris, spyware can slow down your system. Two great spyware scanners thats free are adaware and spybot seach and destroy, type those into a search bar, and download those.
One more thing, you may have a lot of programs running in the backgroud that take up system resources and slow down your system, you go to statrt........then click run........then type in msconfig hit enter, and click on startup, uncheck everything in there, then restart.
Good Luck

could be several things

1 spyware download adaware and do a full scan (check for updates first)

2 low memory, depending on how old your pc is it may be low on available memory.
off top of my head its in system tools than system info.
seems also by clicking my computer than c-drive and than properties (right click)you should see what space is full and whats free.

3 if you say remove or add programs recently or done some updates for example, you may find that defrag. will work to speed up things, if the above 2 aren;t the problem.

Check your system for spyware or any other junk that might be in there with these scans.

All of these are ones that I personally use and all are free.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

You may need to remove some spyware/adware or run a virus scan. go to www.download.com and download spybot search and destroy, adaware personal se, and spywareblaster, all are free. Download and update then run these tools and remove any entries found. You can also run a defrag on your disk if you haven't done that in a while, you can also get the latest updates for your OS if you haven't done that in a while.

you are probably loaded with spyware. Go to www.ewido.net and run an online scan.

Then go to control panel then add/remove programs and remove things you don't need

Then click start, run, type in msconfig hit enter, click on the startup tab and uncheck things you don't recognize. Click apply then reboot.

After reboot check the box that comes up.

in accordance with what you're saying. it is problematic to determine out what the project is. you probably did not say no matter when you're utilizing severe p.c. or dial or prompt. when you're utilizing a prompt information superhighway, it will be signal barrier project. when you're utilizing severe p.c., it will be undercover agent ware project, if dial up, will be bandwidth project. in case you've been utilizing you pc ok earlier. i don't think of it is pc project. Modem power surge project is likewise plausible.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
