worried that the judge will be on the mothers side bc it seems like the judge always feels sorry for the mother...

Unfortunately in a lot of states dfs and the court system favor the mother. DFS isn't great at staying in contact, pick a specific day of the week and call and leave a message weekly. Document and photograph any bruises, but try to have a third party present when you do so. This way the ex and her new bf can't say that your causing the bruising and trying to blame them. Make sure you use a camera that documents time and dates on its pictures, so you can show progression and steady pattern of behavior. When you picked up your daughter was their at least an adult present? If there wasn't you should have called the police immediately. definitely look into getting a good lawyer and fight for full custody, see about getting the mom supervised visitation so your daughter doesn't lose out on her mom, but is still safe. Also look up a program like advocates for children in your state they may be able to help with finding a good lawyer and staying on dfs's case.
