Okay, let me try to explain this the best way I can...
I just purchased a new phone which will connect thru the computer..but I have a problem..There is a Ethernet cord that comes with it. but the cord won't fit into the back of my computer. it is too big. my slots are the size of a regular phone jack cord. Im figuring it's because my computer is too old (i've had it since 97)..now my question is, Is there such a device that I can put on the Ethernet cable in order to convert it to the size of the jack? i hope this makes sense..but if it doesn't and you need further info, just let me know..thanx a whole lot!

You need to buy a new computer because that computer that you have most likely will not be able to run that phone. Easy rule of thumb when it comes to computers after 3 year there bad. That computer is almost 10 years old and will not be able to run that phone and the ethernet card. Sorry to be the bare of bad news. You can go and get a new computer that can run it for about 500 dollars and belevie me your going to see a difference in the speed and everything.

I have not come across any kind of adapter that will all change ethernet to a standard phone plug. But that doesn't mean they don't make one. You can purchase a high-speed ethernet card for your computer at best buy or Circuit City or even Staples. They are usually about $15-$19. And installation is very easy!

hi, seek for a jack that looks like a telephone twine ( RJ11) , yet larger. Ethernet jacks (RJ45) are like telephone, yet greater suitable. Your motherboard on the computing device would desire to have outfitted in ethernet, and it would be someplace close to the different ports. It has a eco-friendly mild and a yellow mild. the eco-friendly shows you which you're linked, and the port is working, the yellow shows there is interest on the cable. the two lights won't artwork till you rather plug the ethernet cable in nonetheless.

you shouldn't be using a computer based on this question. You have a modem in your machine that connects to a phone jack. You are trying to put an ethernet cable into the modem. In order to connect the ethernet cable you need an ethernet card inside the machine. I hate to ask what the other end of the ethernet cable is connect to. I am puzzled as to why a phone would come with an ethernet cable unless its a VOIP phone that needs to be connected to a VOIP router.

You need an RJ45 (ethernet) to RJ11 (phone) adapter to do this but yet your internal modem will read the traffic coming in... you will need to install an ethernet card (PCI) if you have a slot on your motherboard, or you might have to upgrade your PC maybe, it looks like it might be time...

You need to buy an "Ethernet" card! Go to Compusa or Best Buy, or Circuit City and tell them you need an "Ethernet" card.
