Unless you really love your old mouthpiece, get a different brand! Why not try them out, find something that works really well for you?

I'm guessing that you're getting a little serious about playing the clarinet, and are looking to get away from the mouthpiece that came with your clarinet?

Try out Vandoren mouthpieces, they are nice and standard, affordable and provide a MUCH nicer sound than any stock mouthpiece that comes with the clarinet. The B45 dot is a nice one, and the M15 is popular as well. Try them out first though, see which one feels and sounds right to you. If you can, bring your teacher or a friend (who's familiar with music) along. Another pair of ears can make this process a lot easier.

I myself use a Lomax chicago series mouthpiece. It's a bit pricey, and sometimes difficult to come by, but I love it.

You might also want to get a new ligature to go along with it. If you're still using the one that first came with your clarinet, that really won't do your new mouthpiece a whole lot of good. Check out Rovner or BG ligatures.

Hope this helps you out! If you have any other questions, you can e-mail me, princess_jessica16@hotmail.com.

You should get the same brand as the one you already have. If you get something different, the cork could be too think/thin and it might not fit into the barrel right. If you can't get the same brand, you should try a professional music shop and they could find you a good equivalent.

You could try places like Lentines, they have good products at a pretty fair price. Oh and everyone is right, stick with the same brand if you can.
