So the hockey fairy comes and says she'll grant you this awesome wish: you can play professional hockey with the club of your choice.

But here's the catch.

For only ONE YEAR.

Then, you can never play hockey again. Ever.

Would you do it?

Think about it. One year pro hockey (doesn't matter if you don't know how to play, it's *magic*), but then nothing.

No guarantee of a Cup either, if that's your next question.

Would you do it? One year pro then nothing?

Would ya?

I don't think I would.

It's interesting to see the answers... I think for those of us who play at least a couple of games a week, plus some, there's no way we could give it up. Like you guys, I love the sport too much. Wouldn't give it up, even to skate with the big boys, even for the megabucks.

Forex... you LIE!!!!!! you lie you lie you lie!! the hockey fairy's real!!!! She's real and she's going to put cayenne in your jock and shrink your helmet a size next time you're on the ice for sayin' any different!!!!!

:D

Tough question. I would probably not do it, since playing all sports, including hockey, is an absolute joy. Unless it came with a salary of $10 million, then I would reconsider....

I would play for the leafs since there is no guarantee for a cup at least maybe I could be at least loved by the great fans. Last year I was playing Midget AA hockey I had dreams of making the NHL however nieve that was. I was diagnosed with a heart condition and could no longer play hockey because of the contact, hockey meant a lot to me a tried coaching but it was to much with school work I'll try it again next year. So I would give anything just to step on the ice and play just one shift in the NHL for whatever team never mind a season (but I already stated my preference).

It's funny how everyone has mentioned money.

That's an easy one! NO NOT EVER! I've never played pro, but I couldn't imagine not being able to play a Sat afternoon game on the back yard rink! Playing there dreaming of something more has got to be better than having 1 year and then not playing at all

Yeah I would do it, I has a lot of other interests and I wouldn't miss playing hockey that much but the money is good. The worst with it would be all that horrible hockey training!

heck yes i would! if i were magically capable to play professional level hockey for one year i would totally do it. The pay isn't that bad compared to what an average person makes, and its hockey...it doesn't matter if you win the cup..its not like i worked my way up from high school to a juniors team and then amature league team to finally make it to pros...so the fact that magically i got to play hockey for a year would be enough.

I don't play (can't skate, too old), so I would. I'd tell the hockey fairy I'd play for the 83-84 Edmonton Oilers. If I couldn't do that, I'd play for this year's Buffalo Sabres (and I live in San Jose).

Damn right I would. I would choose to play with the Leafs (of course)....just to see what it's like to be among the players in the dressing room, on the ice, on the bus, travelling, or just hanging out. To feel the thrill of playing in front of thousands of the world's best hockey fans in the world's best city. It wouldn't matter to me if we won the Cup - just to be there! If I chose a different team, it would be San Jose Sharks - for two simple reasons: 1. to play along with Jon Cheechoo and Thornton and 2. to live in Califor-n-i-a....
Imagine thousands of players who dream to play in the NHL and for some of them who only make it as far as the farm teams. Some guys are lucky to play one game.

I think i would because even if iam a girl i have always enjoyed playing the game. It would be a dream to play in the big leagues. It would be a once in a lifetime opprotunity. I would not be able to turn it down. It would be an exciting experience even with out a stanley.

I would love to play in the NHL for one season as long as the injury I received to force my retirement would not affect the rest of my life. I would want to play for my boys the NYR. So under those circumstances I would give it all up for one season in the NHL. The dream would become a nightmare if I had to play for the Islanders.

I think it would be awesome. Who would care if you win a cup or not? You would be able to play for a year! Hockey is too awesome!
