Remember this phrase and you'll be fine!
Please = Parenthesis
Excuse = Exponents
My = Multiplication
Dear = Division
Aunt = Addition
Sally = Subtraction

Now let's work on the problem.

We can see that Parenthesis come first, however, in this problem, they terms in parenthesis are unlike terms, therefore, we move on.

There are no exponents, so we move on again!

Multiplication. Ignore the 28 for a moment and concentrate on
-6(2x+4).
-6 times 2x is -12x and -6 times 4 is -24. Now we have this problem:

28-12x-24=124

Let's combine like terms.

28-24= 4

Now we have 4-12x=124.

subtract 4 from each side.

-12x=120

now divide each side by -12

-12x/-12= x and 120/-12= -10

so x= -10

Hope that helped!!

28 -6(2x+4) = 124
-6(2x+4) = 96 (subtract 28 from each side)
2x+4 = -16 (divide each side by -6)
2x = -20 (subtract by 4 on each side)
x = -10 (divide each side by 2)

precisely!
28-6(2x+4)=124
28-12x-24=124
-12x = 124 +24-28 (change the signs in transposing)
-12x/-12 = 120/-12 ( divide both sides by - 12)
x=-10

the answer is x=-10 !!
