Unless you are under contract (illegal in most states) an employer can fire you for no reason at all. Employment is at-will in most states meaning no reason at all has to be given if you quit or if they fire you. You do have the right to seek legal advice and or contact the labor board if you feel you were fired and classified as a wrongful termination. Very long and drawn out process.

If you are sick and the doctor needs you to take time off, the company can't fire you. But you must be REAL sick, not so use the piece of paper as a permit.

Each company has x amount of sick days for each employee, however, the company does not expect every employee to max out the days. Even it's legal, your record will not look good.

Let's say if you own a company, what would you do to those specific workers?

A note from a doctor if presented to an employer overrides firing. A doctor, in good faith for sickness or health reasons gave you time off to recuperate. If they specified that they fired you because of this and you have maintained a copy of the note, you have basis for a lawsuit or at the very least reinstatement to your old job.

Where are you? In a right-to-work state they can fire you at any time for no reason at all. If you work for a large company, check their personnel policies. At the least you should have been put on short term disability.

If the doctor gave you a note for your emplyoer specifying why you were missing time no, if not then yah they can
