I go to School of oriental african studies (SOAS), University of London and as part of the year you have to take 4 units. The 3 by degree selects one i can choose out of choice. The one i chose however i causing me difficulties as it is a 9am start which costs me nearly£20 each morning for 2 hours and i can't financially support that without missing lectures out. Is it possible to change course units at any university, even though it has gone a month into the first term?

one month into the term isn't too long.

You should contact Registry to check the exact procedures for your university, but usually you just need to get the agreement of the lecturers/tutors who run the module you want to leave and the module you want to take instead.

The tutor of the new module should be able to provide you with notes on the lectures you've missed so far, or ask your new classmates.

Speak to the departments (the one you want to leave and the one you want to join). It also depends what course you want to change into as well. SOAS are quite understanding if you do it soon and the course you want to join isn't too full.
If that doesn't work maybe you could spend the rest of the day visiting the British Museum or studying in the library so that its not just for 2hrs of class.

I'm in the US, so it maybe different here than in London. However, in the US you can drop the course. However, depending on school rules you may still be financially responsible for the class. Then you can make up the credits in summer school or next term. I recommend you talk with an Academic Counselor to ask about your options and school policy. Good luck! :)

you have a difficulty - in case you bypass the three hundred and sixty 5 days do you prefer to end the degree besides? You sound very unhappy and that i think of you choose somebody to talk to. Many universities have counselling or preparation officers or perhaps the college chaplain who's used to being a confidante to scholars with none non secular affiliations so try considered one of them. you will desire to even locate that your teach or somebody on your branch would be keen to lend an ear, tutors selection in what they're arranged to do yet he/she would desire to have the potential to indicate you in the main appropriate path interior your college. the student union each and every so often have some help yet examine that that's completely private earlier you open up. If all else fails try your GP who're able to propose some form of counselling/therapy on the NHS in spite of the undeniable fact that waiting lists may be long. Your mom and dad won't should regulate a rather good variety of those issues yet while they actually care approximately you they're going to attempt to help in spite of in the event that they do no longer understand. try writing it down, re-write if mandatory so as which you have some theory what you prefer to declare. Then the two tell them or ask them to study what you have written and take it from there. Do locate somebody who grants help to find a manner by way of those issues and there's a manner, someway, someplace. stable success.

I would be surprised if you could change this late. The only option might be to see if you can drop the module and take an extra one next year...

It is very hard (if not impossible) to register for a courser passing a month. If you get special permissions from instructor of the course and your adviser, you may enroll.
