This is a man that used to LOVE to have sex whenever, wherever and with whoever any day of the week and sometimes more than once in a day. Now there is no desire and any and all attempts to initiate are rejected. He claims that he just has so much stress that he can't even think about it.

Yes, it is absolutely possible. He should have a check-up with a physician. It could signal that other things in his body are being affected by the stress as well. If he refuses that... then you have a right to be suspicious. God bless.
