Great question. This is why Democrats might want to keep the Champaign on ice for awhile.
The majority of wins for Democrats were those who have shown Conservative values in their past decision making.
Either they are tough on Defence, Fiscally responsible, Pro Life, or a full house.
The thing is, the minute Pelosi and Reid attempt to drive through their Socialist agenda I believe they will find unexpected opposition within their own Party.
This is why we now hear folks backing off of certain issues now.
Before the Elections they were prepared to start Impeachment Proceedings against the President, now Pelosi say's it's off the table, what happened?
Think about it, they have talked a good game but when the hammer hits the desk who in their right mind is gonna provide a Military exit timeline to the terrorists so all they have to do is wait us out then attack when we abandon our obligations.
Who in their right mind is willing to take away tax cuts and end the record Stock Market growth.....Someone who doesn't want to keep a job, that's who.
So remind me...Who won this election?

I think she will have problems, and may not be speaker for long. Many of the new Democrats who won this past election were very moderate, actually conservative by Democratic standards. Pelosi is a divisive, extreme liberal. If she alienates the moderate Democrats too often, she will either be ineffective, out of a job, or both.
And Jim W. continues to display his ignorance. A breath of fresh air after Newt Gingrich? He has not been in office for nearly eight years. How fresh do you want the air to get?
BTW, if you think Gringrich is a crook, then that would make Pelosi a hardened felon!

Polling has shown that at least a third of democrats will support any party candidate no matter what they do, let's face it Hillary Clinton could eat dead burnt babies in the senate and it would be hard to defeat her in a state where there is 8 democrats for every 5 republicans. Pelosi has strong ties to Communist China, and you will see her do whatever is in China's best interest in all things. That will be a big dissappointment to labor unions, but will unfold. The same for people like myself who feel free trade globalism is exactly the "unfettered capitalism" that Teddy Roosevelt warned us about, we aren't going to see Pelosi advocating China face up to equal greenhouse gas emmission limits (and I mean based on fair ratio of amount produced) as the USA under Kyoto, or human rights or labor laws. We need a basic global standard so all can compete fairly, and no people or enviroments are exploited in the name of greed. That greed produces the wealth that helps politicians win elections. There won't be any "backfires", just sellouts. We run away from the Middle East, oil/energy/transportation costs here are apt to double, and the terrorists who want to kill Americans (that travel from all over the world to get there) will just follow our troops home. And China fills the vacuum. I think most of the people in the republican and democrat or undecided/independent parties are "moderate" but are swayed by election time propaganda. I think what MOST of us want is more issues debated, less mud slinging, please resolve problems, don't just heckle and obstruct each other, but sadly that has become "The American Dream" these days :P

Pelosi IS a way TOO moderate. She thinks for some unknown reason Dumbya should continue his UNelected coup. And if you think she is a radical on getting out of the Dumbya Big Lie Iraqi Crusade, I assume you are writing your question on a computer at your Armed Forces recruiter, right? Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

Pelosi is smart as Bush or any other career politician now in Washington. She knows the cardinal rule of all successful people in DC: You talk one way to the great unwashed masses from the heartland and beltway that you want to vote for you, and you tone it down and talk quite another way to get things done with your fellow professionals and peers.
Got that?
So many of the vehement foaming mad dog senators and reps spew on camera for the folks back home, but are really quite adjusted and normal acting while at work. Seriously. It's what politicians do. If they acted calm and normal all the time, they'd never get elected. ---And if all they did was rave all the time, the way they rave for Bubba, they'd be as useless as the trolls on these boards.
No offense.

It would seem that we are stuck in "wait and see" mode. Pelosi will have to give the moderates and conservative democrats their voice or a vocal outcry could be heard in the future.
Surprising to me , Bill Clinton has now come out a statement. that he doesn't favor providing timetables for an American military withdrawal there, as many of Clinton's fellow Democrats have demanded.

Fancy Nancy is a dunce. She will screw things up for the Dems before next summer. She can't help herself. She's a dog that cought the car's tire and doesn't know what to do with it. She will get in trouble over the fact that several of her businesses are very likely using illegal aliens - like grape pickers at her vinyard.

The only thig that will backfire is the next presidential election... it will be a conservative winner we see and the Congress will follow as well. The reason is...the dems have no plan and in 2 yrs will have accomplished nothing.

Most Democrats elected were done so being Conservative. At first it will ,but she is rich and has connections to change some of their minds. Enough may vote to make her socialist agenda possible.
