I know people say that you should feed them just a pinch BUT, how much is a pinch?

a fish has a small stomach, so a flake the size of your pinkie finger is about all he can take. Bigger fish will require more food.
You should also make sure you feed a quality food. The better the flake, the more nutrients your fish will receive.
I usually feed my fish once a day, but they also have live plants in their tank, so they will munch on the dying leaves all day long.
If you feed them more often, you will have to do more water changes.
You may also consider gettign some kind of a bottom feeder fish like a coryadora (like a cat fish) they will eat teh food that falls to the bottom.

Feeding your fish properly is a function of the learning curve on your part.

Normally fish should be fed at least twice a day.
The amount you feed them is dependant upon several factors such as:
How big are the fish?
How many fish are there in the tank?
What kinds of fish are they?

Assuming they are all the types of fish at you would feed "flake food" to, then the following rule of thumb usually applies.

Feed them an amount that they will consume in 5 minutes.

Lots of folks call that a "pinch" but that is so arbitrary. What you need to do is to pour some food into the palm of your hand and take conscious note of how much it is. Feed it to the fish.

If they eat it all or at least most of it, you are in the right ball park regarding the amount of food for each feeding.
If there is a lot of food floating around after 5 minutes, remove most of it with a net to preclude it from fouling your tank. You can let some settle on the bottom for the catfish is you have any in your tank. (If you don't have any....get some!)

Adjust the amount of food you give them to an amount they will consume in the 5 minute period, and feed them twice a day.

Hope this helps.

I feed my fish 3 times a day. It takes awhile to learn how much to feed them each time, but a good rule of thumb is only to feed them what they can eat in 2-3 minutes. After a few days of watching them at feeding time, you'll have a better figure of just how much this is.

You can judge the size of your fish's stomach by looking at their eye. Their eyeball and stomach are about the same size. You only want to put enough food in the tank to fill each fish's stomach 2 or 3 times a day.
Remember, there's little danger in under feeding your fish. Over feeding, however, has serious consequences.

No offense, but you reeeeeally should have known this before you got fish. You should feed them twice a day. The size of a pinch is the amount that will fit between the thumb and index finger on your hand!!!:0)
Hope this helps!!!!!!

It really depends on what kind of fish it is. Bettas (fighting fish) typically only need to be fed once a day, provided you feed them the appropriate amount (about 3 bloodworms; the appropriate amount of pellet food varies by brand).

Goldfish, on the other hand, are a completely different story, and there are as many ways as there are goldfish owners. Since goldfish aren't exactly known for being especially "robust" creatures, it's best to underfeed them to a point. When I had goldfish, I fed them flakes, and I operated on the "2 flakes per fish per day" rule. I would feed each of the 3 fish one flake in the morning, and one flake in the evening.

Feed fish daily (1-2 times). You want to feed them only as much as they will eat in 20-30 seconds. The big reason not to overfeed fish is that the extra food dirties the tank and significantly reduces water quality over time.

Depends on the fish and its size and how many times you feed it daily.

Let them eat as much as they consume in 2 minutes 2 times a day.
