This is the insanity of giving anyone power. The American Constitution is meant to restrain the power of the state and the government by protecting individual Rights as sacrosanct and inviolate. However, too often the government and state have colluded to convince and coerce people into surrendering a Right for a government permit or state-given benefit in the name of greater "security". This is a form of fraud, and is clearly taking advantage of a electorate that is too stupid, thanks to continually dumbed-down ciriculums, to know better. There's a sucker born every minute, which means there are billions of them on the face of this globe.

You are right this is not to protect and serve. Tazers being issued to police is the worst move any administration could make. In fact, tazers have been used so seldom in the past that they didn't know what permanent damage these things could really do. I live in Austin, Tx. and I understand that 4 out of 10 calls the police here are reporting tazer use. Several people have been killed by "retarded" cops with thier new toy, and others hospitaled for critical injuries.

America is turning into a police state AS WE SPEAK. Luckly, we have made the first step and got rid of a lot of those damn repulicans in the house and senate. I must say "Thank God We did something about it." Hopefully, we can get rid of that retard BUSH in two years!

And your question is? Please, write a blog about your opinions. This is for questions only.

But, in response to your opinion, police have the right to ask for identification and to obey their commands (Step out of the car, pull-over, etc.). It's for the policeman's safety because he cannot distinguish between a criminal and someone who's just having a bad day. When someone refuses to do so, the police must assume that they have a weapon and are trying to hide it.

Contrary to popular belief, cops do not go around tazing people because it's fun - they have a reason to believe the suspect is dangerous. And the United States doesn't make laws to make you made - they make laws to protect people and keep you from infringing others' rights.

If you don't want to be hassled by the cops then comply with what they say. If they want you to step out of the car, do it because they have that right. So you can either step out of the car when they ask, or you can be tazered out of the car. Your choice.

The law isn't going to change because it saves lives. And saving lives is more important than ruining someone's day. You have a number of rights and so do police officers - which is more than what other countries have. Go to certain parts of Africa where police have large machine guns to enforce traffic laws. So take your pick. Tazered or being shot. Or you can go the crazy, abnormal, why-would-anyone-do-that-way and just obey the law.

Simple solution, when instructed by a police officer to do something, do it. 99% (always a bad apple in there) of cops won't ask you to do something if they don't have the backing by the law/penal code.

Police Officers have the authority to utilize the amount of force necessary to effect an arrest. This can be for the simplest of misdemeanors to hardcore felonies. I have seen many people get lawfully arrested for simple requests by a police officer to which they refused. Whether put on trial and convicted is one thing, but arrest can be a solution to a problem. Probable cause to arrest versus an actual conviction are two different worlds. I am not sure if it is pride, an act of defiance, ignorance, etc. But, incidents such as this are avoidable. In retrospect it is hard to fill in the blanks from a news article.

Seems like an obvious solution to the problems: SHOW YOUR ID UPON REQUEST and don't drive with an expired license. Moron.
