II have seen lots of angry questions on here by angry smokers by the new non smoking laws that have passed around the nation. They have called the government dictators and said we are heading for a communist society. Well what are my rights. I have had to avoid bars all of my 20’s because I get sick at the slights hint of smoke. I have to wait extra long for a table really far away from the “smoking”. I have had to avoid entire restaurants because the smoking section is so close I can smell the smoke and have an attack. So what are my rights. Can’t I have the right to clean air.
what makes you think you have the right to smoke in bar. Smoke in your damn car or your house. None wants to smell that stuff. I am happy that Ohio will soon be smoke free I voted for the legislation and it passed. No smoking anywhere Yes.

your rights end where another persons rights begin. smokers should have the right to smoke and you should have the right to not smoke.
non smoking restaurant rules in florida has caused heavy financial damage to places late night smokers used to visit -- like dennys.
bars don't have such rules in florida because bars like to cater to smokers. if they didn't allow smoking then they would lose too many customers. vices go with other vices -- smoking, drinking, eating grease in the middle of the night -- etc etc etc.
if you want a bar that caters to nonsmokers than open one -- it is your right. don't expect it to stay around long. most states in the west have lots of non-smoking bars if you feel the urge to go out clubbing in smoke free atmospheres you can head for new mexico.

As a fellow non smoker we have to live in society that is for all. You seem unnormally unresistant to cigarette smoke than most people even to other non smokers. But smokers are in their millions and the government that passed the legistation in your favor gets funding from smokers.
Passing laws is not going to solve the problem as the problem is social that is backed up by taxation. Smokers pay tax to smoke then therefore they feel they paid for the privilage to smoke.
Which is fair enough, they have paid to smoke not - not to smoke through taxation through tobacco.
Blanket bans on smoking often comes with silly laws such as if smoke from a cigarette trails over your garden fence that is criminal when in reality outdoors it won't harm as it will only be a smell. Smokers are addicts that are supplied their habit by law. The government allow tobacco sales and profits.
Changing the attitudes of smoking will do more than bans.

A non-smoker has the RIGHT to WALK AWAY.
Aw, poor you! You do have a right to clean air... stay home and have dinner on your patio or go to a non-smoking restaurant.
Do you drive a car? Use electricity? Use paper? Make garbage? Use the toliet? YOU ARE DAMAGING THE AIR AND ENVIRONMENT WITH EACH OF THOSE ACTIONS AS WELL. So until you aren't contributing to air pollution, get off your high horse.
And NO I am not a smoker!

It is a bar idiot! There is drinking and smoking going on there! Taking away tobacco is no different than when they took away alcohol, just less of a law. I do not smoke and you people who are against REALLY MAKE ME MAD! The truth idiots they can go smoke themselves, all these people moaning and complaining about second hand smoke, don't like it don't stay near it! What about the people who drink? I do not like how they get drunk and start fights with other people in bars, I do not like how beer smells on people when they are in bars, restaurants, or outside. I think I might get a law to ban drinking now, thank you your question is making me want to ban public drinking. Besides the air isn't clean anyways, look at the public buses, cars, trash all over the place, no all you see is a little stick in someone's mouth. YOU FAIL TO SEE THE MUFFLER ON ALL THESE VEHICLES SHOOTING OUT MORE CHEMICALS THAN SOMEONE SMOKING DOES! Airplanes shoot out thousand times more than what one cigarette does. Complain about aviation while you are at it also! Instead all you do is complain about smoking. You do not like it, ask the people to either stop smoking around you, move to another place, OR KEEP LOCKED IN YOUR HOUSE AND STAY OUT OF PUBLIC AND DO EVERYONE A BIG FAVOR!!!

I'm a smoker and I should have the right to smoke ANYWHERE I so choose to. What right do you have to tell me that I don't have the right to poison myself slowly if that's what I choose to do? Yes, I realize what cigarettes could do to me. I come from a family of smokers, I have had some family members die from smoking, and yet I choose to keep smoking.

I am a smoker and believe that if I am going to enjoy this nasty little habit I have the right to only poison air I am going to breathe.
I don't think I have the right to poison everyone's air.

I completely agree with you. I grew up around it with a Mom who was a heavy smoker and I had asthma! She still smokes to this day.
I'll take your complain one further and ask what the helk about all the darn cigarette butts all over. They just throw them! We were in Florida this summer and the beach was one big ashtray. Gross. Outside of any restaurant or store or business all you see if hastily thrown butts. They don't even bother to try to dispose of them. You can't go to the park or anywhere without the ground being littered with these things and they are disgusting when they get wet. Ugh! Just look down anywhere you are and you'll know what I'm talking about.
I mean they smoke them, they should have to deal with the garbage, not us!
And don't get me started on people who toss it out the car window! Ugh. Obviously they agree that they are dirty and stinking and they don't want it in their car.
