Nirvana was a great band and Cobain was a lyrical genius, but the greatest band ever? Four other choices come to mind, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, U2 and Led Zeppelin.

Over the Beatles, or Stones, or Cream or Hendrix or about 100 other bands that were far more influential and/or popular?
If you think they were the best ever, you have every right to think so. If your friend thinks they suck, well, he has that right too.

they're okay but not the best. Dont worry about proving him wrong, just play nirvana all day long. if he likes it then great, if not. who cares.
