Syria and Hezbolla a strange alliance?

Syria is ruled by baathist, sunnis yet they support hezbolla which is a radical shiite group. I understand their common enemy of israel but I dont see their common ideals.

They don't have to have common ideals to be allied, especially if they are allied against a common enemy. They hate Israel more than they differ against each other. I'm a Browns fan and I don't really like the Ravens but if they play the Steelers I'm definitely a Baltimore fan.
