i try to keep my bird feeders above the ground and out of reach of rodents (rats, racoons and squirrels) - i have some hanging from tree branches about 20ft high

Oh yes! That was the source of our infestation of rodents. Exterminator told us to get rid of the feeders. Sad as we loved feeding the birds, but well worth not having rats.

absolutley!!! it will ive seen it my self at my house. i put a catch at the bottom of my feeder about 2 feet off the ground this way any uneaten seeds are still accessable by small birds. it prevents squirels and rats from climbing the pole too.

Yes unless you take special care to keep fallen seed away from them. Also, the feeder needs to be rodent proof. Suspend it between trees/posts with pvc pipe sliders so they can't 'walk the wire' to get to the goodies.

Rats are more likely to go after your bag of seeds unless it is tightly sealed - I use a metal garbage can to keep it in.

oh yea ,,,,,,,,any type of rodent type animal,,,,PBS had a show to try and make a rodent free bird feeder,,,but hungry does as hungry does
