(To put it in the middle of the sentence, like A or B, breaks up the thought which is the core of the sentence: Her son made the dean's list.

The position of the phrase in C make it a preposition describing "made," which doesn't make sense in this sentence. (It would in something like "Her son glued the dean's list to her wall.")
