Go to both Symantecs website (norton), and Mcafee, and compare the two products.
These are both popular brands, the type hackers most want to break into, so it's a case of the hacker or the security firm.
Hackers may try less with other brands, but the bigger brands put more money into protection

I find that peoples' choice of AV software is terribly subjective - I use Norton, have done so for years and will be upgrading to NIS 2007 in the new year. However, I have seen McAfee in action, as it were, and there is nothing at all wrong with it - its just that I am not used to it. Illogical, I know, but thats the way it is. I also use other programs like the new Windows Defender - good computer security should be like a mediaeval castle - lots of different "moats and walls" to block an assault, in the event that it makes it through one or more of the outer ones.

It's a difficult one this. I, personally, have never had any problems with Norton but I have learned my way around it. The Security features can be really excellent and trust me, if you get the System Works too and you have a problem with your computer, Norton will solve it! However, there are several downsides with norton and you have to know about them - which means reading newsgroups etc - once you master it, then definitely Norton over Mcafee. Be sure to turn off your Windows Firewall when you load it up or everything will go wrong! If it does, then uninstall and reinstall. Feel free to ask questions here and we will help you through it.
Good luck.

It is more of a personal choice. Personally I would choose neither. Internet Security eats up your computers resources, and I have just never like Mcafee. I would use Norton's Antivirus corporate edition and either BlackICE or ZoneAlarm for a firewall. Though the choice is up to you.

I'm a 25 year computer technician that's constantly benchtesting both.
Without a doubt Norton always pulls through.

They are both JUNK. Why buy a security suite when you can get a good one for free. I recommend Safety and Security Center.
