Of course she should bring her blanket, pillow, and stuffed animal. but have you considered what kind of sounds she hears during the night at home? Can she hear the traffic, or dogs barking, etc.? Find a tape recorder, and sometime before you go on vacation, set it up in her room and let it record all the little sounds. Play it for her at bedtime in the new place. Smell can help too. What does her room smell like ( cleaning supplies, perfume, air freshener? Bring some for her new room. Try to make the new place as similar to home as possible. There is nothing more comforting than home.
Hope this helps. Have a great time on vacation!

Try to make the room she will be sleeping in resemble her room at home. Also try some background noise like leaving the television on or a fan or something, that always seems to help me. also try not laying down in bed till she is really tired, she will be less likely to lay there and think about stuff.

give her things to do before going to sleep. the same thing every night and once she has finished doing them her body will just be like "oh it must be time for sleep"..... depending on how young she is, she might end up waking up in the middle of the night. just have have her walk around and then she will get comfortable then she just may go back to sleep......it helps when you know where everything is and where you are before going to sleep!

Well, when you are trying to get a pet used to a new place you usually sequester them for a bit. This is a child, though, and you don't do those sorts of things to a kid........
I agree with "Kricket". Have your cousin bring her own bedding so that she is comfortable. I know of adults who do this same thing when they go on vacation to hotels. I think with them it's a hygenic thing, though......

Tell her to bring something comfortable.
A favorite blanket and my pillow helps me. Sometimes I light candles to help me relax. Dim lighting is a good trick too.
But definately tell her to bring some comfort items. Whatever it might be.
