I hope people can look at the fact that if the Twins had a better offense in May and June he would have won 3 more games

Ice,

The award you're talking about is Cy Young

He could and arguably should, but will not. Very rarely do pitchers win MVP. Unfair I think. I can think of Pedro with Montreal I believe, and I thought Dennis Eckersly for some reason. It's like the Heisman, why don't more defensive players win it?

It is very doubtful that he will win MVP, although deserving. Pitchers are usually designated CY Young awards which is basically their MVP. It is very difficult to compare a player that plays everyday, to a player that plays every 5 games. It also goes back to the whole debate, whether it is most valuable player to that team, or it is the best player, or who puts up the best numbers. I think the MVP should get eliminated and their should be the CY Young and another similiar award such as the Willie Mays award to the best player thats not a pitcher. To me there is nothing wrong with having seperate awards, because as I said before it is so difficult to compare the two.

The Writers HATE giving Pitchers the MVP.. they feelthey Have their Award with the Cy Young.. But if a pitcher is by far the best pitcher in the league, that by definition makes him the most valueable player in league too i would think, since anyone you ask will tell you if it came down to having Walter Johnson and Bob Gibson and Sandy Koufax as yer 1 and 2 and 3 starters, or Babe Ruth and Lou Gherig and Rogers Hornsby as yer 2, 3 and 4 hitters, people who know baseball will take Johnson and Gibson and Koufax ... so pitchers are more important to winning. So the best pitcher in a league in any given year IS the Most Valuable Player... but they hate giving MVP t pitchers.. so no, i dont think he will win MVP, i think it belongs to Derek Jeter this year

Very tough for a pitcher to win the MVP anymore, since they only play every 4 or 5 days vs the everyday guys. Look for Jeter to win the AL MVP.

Most likely not since he'll win the Cy Young easily. Johan would've had to have a monster season to win both the Cy Young and MVP.

Don't get me wrong, Johan is my favorite player in MLB but he didn't have a monster season. He just had the best season for any pitcher.

He's not going to win both the Cy Young and MVP. It's very rare for someone to win both.

Although he's deserving, he probably won't win it because he's a pitcher. Many think the Cy Young is a separate but equal award.

Possibly, but not likely. MVP generally goes to a position player.

He did win it. They announced that he was a unanimous winner a couple of hours ago.
