Her first name is Jo or Joanne when her mother was angry. She actually doesn't have a middle name but borrowed Kathleen from her grandmother for her penname when her publishers wanted another initiial.

Joanne. she changed it becouse she thought that the books wouldn't be as appealing to boys if it was a womans name on the cover. so it's simply J.
