If he's staying overnight at the hospital, just pack him pretty much what you have packed for yourself. Clothes, hygiene products, etc.
Bring along books, magazines, or whatever he likes to do to pass the time as well.

I packed a book, clothes, toiletries and never needed them, my daughter didnt take her time....lol
the best thing for him to pack is just the book. once your child is born and you both are settled into your room he should go home and ensure everything is ok. I did, I went home, had sleep and prepared everything for the final time. I phoned everyone, and asked them not to come over in the first 4 days, or I they will be offended if I dont let them in.
no mother in law, no family, no mates.
that first few days is essential to adjust, and you both need all the rest you can get. he needs sleep too, away from you so that he is able to support you through the nights. sounds selfish but its not, I mean while you are safe he can focus on the home and logistics. and visit you two often. if you both go home exhausted it will be a very testing first week.

A lock for the locker in the hospital. Coins for food or drinks he can buy from vending machine. Cell phone to spread the good news.
I don't think man needs much. He will go home to change, unless he wants to take his shower in the hospital, but I don't think he can use the shower in the same room as yours. Especially, if you share with other people. Good luck.

Bring some reading material if he reads, handheld video game, and anything he might enjoy that can help pass the time. If he plans on staying in the hospital, he'll need clothes as well and toiletries.
