It all boils down to what type of crap you want to deal with.
Nurses deal with:
Less pay than doctors, even if the nurse is smarter than the doctor.
Cleaning up after doctors.
Having to do the work of 10 people.
I'm sure there's more
Doctors deal with:
Malpractice insurance.
At least 8 more years of hard work for no money.
there must be more, but i can't think of anything else right now.
I'm sure you know the advantages for each. Weigh the advantages versus the disadvantages to help you decide. If you become an RN, you could always go back to school to become a doctor.
PS - many RNs today need a master's degree to get a decent job. That may be something you can do while working, not sure. The hospital where my Mom works as an RN almost made her get her master's degree, even though she had been an RN for over 30 years!

it costs soooooooo much money to become a doctor. If you're in the process of becoming a nurse, then i say stick to it for a few reasons: doctors are liable for everything (lawsuits, etc), doctors work ridiculous hours, and a lot of SCHOOL!!! A doctor's salary is really attractive, but it takes a whole lotta dedication. Becoming a
Nurse on the other hand is good because they make GREAT money, and you will always get a job wherever you go...plus, schooling isn't that long
You Become A...
Nurse to Help People
or
A Doctor who Fixes Peoples' Problems
Also, if you want to function like a doctor...checkout Nurse Practioner--they can prescribe and do doctor things

If you have a dream, I would say follow it, but if you are just looking for ideas then I would say weigh out the options. Med school is going to be alot more money and alot more time consuming. I'm sure exactly how one goes about starting their own medical practice or joining another, but figure you would have to get a decent client base started before getting much money. As a registered nurse you will always have a job, Nursing homes, hospitals, factory, schools, red cross, the list is never ending. You could always start off as a registered nurse and go back to school if you wish.

Well, it seems to me that you could always become a nurse first. If, after seeing the work that doctors do on a day-to-day basis, you still feel like you want to become a doc. Then do so. Working as a nurse wouldn't be a terrible way to pay your way through medical school. Generally doctors do four years of undergrad, typically in some sort of biological science, then three or four years of medical school.

Well, med. school tuition at Univ .Of Mo in KC is $100,000 a year plus books, supplies, insurance, etc. Both are always needed. Know though that doctors pay a LOT for liability insurance. If they accept Medicare they only get paid half or less of what they charge. They are ALWAYS being sued. Med school is 8 years or more if you specialize. I don't know how hard it is as a doctor to find a job but I know RN's can accept any job they want and at just about any rate they want...schools, doctor's offices, hospitals, nursing homes, etc. Depends on how much you want to spend and how long you want to spend in school

med school costs a lot more but if you become a surgeon you'll make tons of money and be seriously in demand
on the other hand, RN is more in demand than regular doctors and you have a lot of flexibility in where you work
neither is easy, but start taking science courses in school and you'll see which one you like better... if you're really really good in science, then you might want to check out med school
