Well first of all we are not the GREATEST nation EVER.... our nation is owned by corporations. Transnational Corporations (TNC's) have taken over the American economy and government. These corporations give up endless choices... yet we are given choices only within the boundaries of what choices they provide for us. We have freedom but we are not free. When I think of freedom I think of having the ability to do anything I wish at anytime I wish.... this is NOT what we have. We have freedom in the parameters of what they allow us. We are not allowed to make our own choices but rather we are allowed to choose from choices that they have already deemed as acceptable. What happened to America? Corporations happened... corruption happened. Maybe if the Pentagon would stop spending $2000 on one waffle iron and random other expenditures then we would be able to implement better social service programs to save the soul of America. We care about sweat shops in America.. but how is it that NY city has one of the largest sweatshop communities? Also... we care so much about profit that we turn the other cheek on China's obvious violation of labor laws and numerous human rights violations? Why are we corrupt? Because our society cares more about making a buck then the health and sanity of our people.

Well, this isn't anything 'normal' in the U.S. And they probably happen occasionally elsewhere too.

What is bizarre is how much the U.S. American public apparently enjoys hearing about them. Or how willing people are to talk about them. This celebrity/celebration of evil is perhaps the most disturbing aspect of the phenomenon.

The U.S. isn't morally great, just very very large and focused on the individual, which allows for a greater ruthlessness. It's not great, just overweight.
