Yes, and no. A very high concentration of oxygen is poisonous to us, fish, plants.... Can you get too much oxygen in a fish tank? Not without pumping in 100% oxygen. (Even then it would be hard as the excess oxygen would just diffuse out of the water.) You'd really need to seal up the tank to make it happen.

In short your filter and airstones simply can't do it with normal air. Past a certain point it's really really hard to put more air in your water.

Pure oxygen might kill them.

But you can't get that to happen in your acquarium under normal operation of your acquarium.

If you are worried about something like too many air bubbles, etc. don't be concerned.

Oxygen in the water is absorbed into the water at the surface. That is why it is recommended that you have good circulation in the tank. By constantly changing the water that is at the surface through circulation, you assure proper saturation of the oxygen into the water, at the proper amounts.

Air bubbles do add some oxygen to the water but in very small amounts. The bubbles actually do more for the circulation aspect than they do for adding oxygen.

Hope this helps.

Yes they can. Especially if your tank has a lot of plant life and periodically becomes supersaturated with oxygen. The tank may return to equilibrium saturation by releasing oxygen bubbles. These bubbles can burn the slime off the fish.

Otherwise, at very high oxygen concentrations, certain species may become agressive, bite each other and then be vulnerable to opportunistic infections, such as vibrio.

I have a 20 gallon tank with lots of plants, a filter, and 24" bubble wand. My fish get a LOT of oxygen from all of that. They are healthy, happy, and thriving fish.
So, I would say, no the fish will not die from having their tank heavily oxygenated.

Well if fish die from being taken out of the water....I'll let you do the math.

If your talking about oxygenating the water too much,I don't think so, unless you evaporate it completely. That would be bad.
