Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, FOX News - the list goes on. All of these people/organizations are "for profit" organizations - they are in the business to make MONEY. If people stop listening - companies stop advertising - they go off the air. It is in these people's best interests to KEEP UP THE DIVIDE among conservatives/liberals; Republicans/Democrats. Even though they may TALK about wanting the country coming together....it's not what they REALLY want - and through their daily nonsense, it's certainly not what they want to promote. It's much more profitable to listen to hatred & a "routing" mentality (Libs are bad! Cons are evil!) - then to actually discuss issues sensibly & intellectually - who would listen to that, right? These guys disgust me - they WANT the division - they WANT the political hatred. It's what keeps their ratings high. A national dialogue would be wonderful. It's not what these promoters of hate really want. It's sad. Your thoughts?

Gephardt....actually - in my original draft of this question - I did put in Air America (i.e. Al Franken, et al) - however - it's my understanding that they're in bankruptcy and NOT making money. But - yes - I include them in that list. As far as your other examples go - if you think ABC, NBC, CNN etc. are remotely comparable to Rush, Sean, Bill, FOX - then you aren't paying attention.

that all the examples you gave are of those on the right shows me you aren't really interested in "coming together" but are trying to blast those on the right while ignoring cnn, abc, cbs, nbc, ed schultz, al franken, new york times, etc. but the bottom line is no one would be profiting off of political divides if no one wanted to participate in such divides. all the people and organizations you mentioned are just providing a service in response to public demand; that's why they are making money.

But your concern is predicated on the the ability of people to close the divide. Name one place on Earth where there is no dissention, no conflict of any sort among the major political parties.

I don't disagree that there is an profitable industry generated by the disagreement, but that can be said for so many different things. If no one ever got sick, doctors would be out of a job. What would lawyers do without people suing each other, etc.

I don't think that America is divided, and also that is the way of Democratic country I think the opinions and political parties are to close in America and people don't care enough for the politic, their are kaum real news , and all median is partial. and trying to make best profit. but they don't have new Ideas they are divided only on the dividing the profit.

True if you take the word "liberal" out of any Ann Coulter's or any other con's book, you're left with a leaflet. Let's face Americans are not know for their taste in literature or any other medium for that matter.

Honestly, the only thing proven to unite this country is a national disaster, and then you still have your anti- American wackos.

We will never truly be united.
