Most cone shells feed on worms or on other mollusks, and the venom of these species is not powerful enough to seriously harm a human being. But there are several species of cone shells that feed on live fish, and these species have a very potent venom that could kill a human being. The three most dangerous species are the geography cone (Conus geographus), the textile cone (Conus textile) and the striate cone (Conus striatus). All three of these species have been known to kill people. Cone shells are very popular with shell collectors because of their bright colors and complex shell patterns. There are no poisonous varieties of snail, however improper preservation of edible snails can result in botulism. Other than that, you might choke to death on snails if you really don't like them, or someone might throw a big one at your head and kill you.
