I've heard that pawn shops often have old goods. Perhaps you should try one of those?

You can try looking into antique malls but the ones that i see are kinda high. Another place you can look for them is at a outdoor swapmeet in your area that sells nothing but old stuff. Happy hunting..

Vintage Hot Wheels are highly collectible and some are worth a Lot of $$$$
going thru a private party would be advantageous for you since there would be no bidding war
