I'm talking about Passions, Days of our lives, etc. Why are the stories so unreal and non-stop? One day, a husband would be happy with his wife, and then he would get lost on an island with his memory gone, and married another woman, and then pirates would make him slaves.

That seems to be the way soap operas are made here in America.

I've seen Korean, Filipino, and Mexican soaps and all of them have good stories and they always end, and they make a new one.

American soap operas are an embaressment to those smart enough to realize they are.
the problem with american entertainment is its all about the money. days of our lives is still making money so why end it and lose all the veiwers? writers and producers are scared to do anythign new becuase they think everyone will hate it, and they will lose money as a result, so instead they plod anlong with the same old proven money maker sh!t and the american public eats it right up, becuase the same society tells us that whats american is best. most americans still think other countries still live in huts nevermind make their own, actually entertaining dramas!

LOLOLOL it is so funny you mentioned those two soaps. Those were the ones I used to watch in the states.I don't know exactly why I watched them. I think its like an addiction like Y!A. But they go on and on because people want them to. Days has been on for over 20 years. And just to let you know its not just American soaps that don't end. I am here in Egypt and there are soaps that have been on for years to, but only more realistic, like real families and what real people do day to day. And they are not as sloooooowwwwwwww and the American soaps. LOL it takes a person a week to do one task lol,but thats what keeps people coming back for more. The long drawn out suspense. Plus they are mostly watched by house wives at a time a day were they are alone in the house before hubby and the kids come home.

the stories do end, but not in the way that you want them too lol I like the way the soaps are here just fine. You get to know the characters and their families. From what I understand, (tell me if I am wrong because I don't know for sure) the soaps that you are talking about start new stories with totally different people, I wouldn't like that because I want to know about and see my favorites often lol Passions sucks you need to watch the young and the restless.. that is the most realistic soap

Yeah, I agree with you about the same old, same old plots and storylines, which get more and more unrealistic and ridiculous every time. I can't believe they've exhausted all possibilities and have resorted to recycling the same ideas. But at the same time, I don't want the soap operas to end and to create new ones. That would be the end of an era, which is sad. :-( I actually don't mind, because I hate it when my favorite show(s) have series finales. It makes me sad that something good has ended and then I need to search for something new to watch that is just as good or better. It's the search I don't like. I like having the same usual routines, meaning same shows with the same characters, etc.

1) If half the stuff that happened on those shows happened to real people, we'd all die.

2) The people who make those shows always leave you guessing, so you'll keep watching.

3) Two words: hot men.

4) Some story lines do end, only to come back around later (GH's Luke and Laura).

With imaginitive writers and a rather good variety of comments that have been instructed throughout the time of human beings the soaps can pass on and on. they do no longer would desire to represent actual existence (nonetheless some do), they are able to be in effortless terms fictional from extraterrestrial beings to angels! without soaps what would all human beings communicate approximately and fantasize approximately?
