_CAUTION_ Do _NOT_ take your monitor apart yourself! That is very dangerous, you can be BADLY electrocuted, even when the monitor is unplugged. The tube of the monitor is coated with a sort of fabric, which conducts a large charge of electricity, and keeps it for discharge when the monitor is turned back on, thats why when you turn your monitor on it dispels static, when it is turned off the static from it is absorbed back into the "fabric" If you shock yourself enough and you don't lose your arm and hand, this can damage your components. The tube monitors have no user serviceable parts. If it is an LCD, there are still no user serviceable parts to my knowledge, and LCD components are very complex and sensitive.
