Get yourself to the Library on St. Peter's Square - you'll find bundles of maps of north Manchester - Collyhurst/Harpurhey etc (that's if you're still in Manc.)

As lots of people have already told you, Manchester Central Library is the place to go for historical info on this great city! You might also find some old photos of Collyhurst - they have very old photos of various places in the region there - my Gran showed me a very old photo of the street where she grew up at Manchester Library once.

1st floor of Manchester Library in St. Peter's Square, the Local Studies Unit. Ask at the desk and they'll bring out their collection of maps for you for the nearest available year.
