Would believing in God in the matrix count? Otherwise how would religion exist? Or is the movie implying that religion is made up?

Well ok, assume you were plugged into the matrix.
Assume you believed in god(lets just say the christian god(doesn't rly matter which one tho)

Now assuming the matrix existed, believing in god would not help you very much because believing in "god" implies believing in a supreme being/deity that is above everything we have created/are creating/could create.
But this all essentially means you can only have one or the other, either there is god or there is the matrix, because if there is god and the matrix, god would not be all-powerful(because the matrix in a sense would have all the powers over you that god would have thereby creating quite a contradiction)

Conclusion: Its one or the other not both, assuming the matrix exists, then god doesn't -> how could you go to heaven(where one would assume god exists) if there is no god to make/live in heaven

Also from a matrix point of view, what would happen if you died while in the matrix and you were hooked up to it by the machines? The same thing that happens to every1 else, you get discarded, and someone else, who is living(and therefore would provide the body heat they so desperately needed), would take your place.

it wouldnt matter if you were in the matrix, because God is kind of more powerful than that. besides you'd return to the real world when you died, wouldn't you? and go to Heaven (or hell) from there?
woah that's deep

no, they would be reincarnated. That is why they were waiting for Neo to show up again. And religion is made up, evolution has been proven.
