It does prevent sagging. It is also good to wear them when you are sleeping. The more support you can get the better.

Are you talking like 24/7 all the time, or only when your awake? Personally I think wearing a bra 24/7 would cause more damage then it can prevent. You skin needs time to breath, streach & relax, with a bra on all the time it can't do that. Then there's the chaffing issue with always having an elastic band around your chest, and over your sholders.

It also depends on you size, and age. If your a perky 18 year old with a SOLID b cup, then going braless for days at a time is not an issue. However, if your pushing 40 and a C+ then wearing a bra is usually a must, because of the discomfort of just 'letting them swing'.

If you pass the pencil test, you should wear a bra as often as possible, except when you're sleeping, or wearing some other form of support like some halter tops provide. When you're sleeping, you're laying down, and gravity is not pulling down on them anyways, so what's the point in wearing a bra to bed??? Laying on the bra can also cut off blood circulation, and lymphatic fluid circulation...

The pencil test is, if you can lift your breast up and put a pencil underneath it, and when you let go of your breast the pencil stays underneath it, you pass. If the pencil drops to the floor you fail

It's not harmful.

I always wear one if I'm out and about. If I'm just at home lounging around in my pj's, I'm usually not wearing one because it's more comfortable not to. If I had a smaller chest, I probably would rarely wear one.

Don't wear one in the shower, or swimming pool.
Not to bed either.
Wear it only when you want to or need to. Not all the time.

If the bra is underwire or tight you should not sleep in it.
