I don't walk around in a suit and tie or with a briefcase. And I don't talk alot but for some odd reason most people when they first meet me automatically assume that I am a lawyer why do they assume that and is that a good or bad thing

it might be where you appear or your vocabulary or interests.
This has happened to me before. Because i was in a place
full of people that were not similar to me. (an immigration office) and they could think of no other reason a person dressed like me would be there. What subjects do you bring up? What do you like to talk about? What school did you graduate from? Some schools are known for law schools. Don't worry too much about this.
