My 99 Altima makes a weird flapping noise in the tires when I'm on the freeway. It doesn't happen when I accellerate, just when I let up off the gas or brake. Last time this happened, I tightened my lugnuts and it went away. Last night I checked the tire pressure and tightened everything again, and it still makes the same noise when I go fast and then take my foot off the gas. ANy ideas on what this might be?

i am guessing that you dont want to go to a garage because of a money issue so i recomend that you go and have your brakes inspected. this will cost nothing and they will advise you of any obvious problems that they discover. i once had a brake that was out of place that acted sort of like that. i once had a cracked wheel cover that acted something that. but it could be quite a few things. a shop will put your mind at ease and might alert you of a real problem. it shouldnt cost anything if you are just looking for an estimate.

You probably hit a bird and it's stuck to the front of your car. Free the poor thing and the flapping noise should go away.

your shocks/struts might be bad and wore flat spots on your tires and it will sound like that or it might be the freeway or the balencing on your tires, tie rod ends, u-joints mayby, out of alignment wrong size tires

It's either damaged lugs or calibers in the wheel. you need to go to an automotive shop asap.
