Is installing .Net Framework 2.0 a good idea?

Way back when, gamers were advized not to install .Net Framework 2.0 as it slowed the PC down to a crawl...

I have an aging P4 1.6 that needs no help in crawling...

Actually 3.0 is out.

I installed 2.0 and had problems.

.NET is not so much for us, the average users anyway.

Now I'm very particular what "updates" I install.

Stick with 1.1 and keep your Java updated.

One thing you can to take the load off is to turn off Visual Themes and disable unnecessary Microsoft services.
