I met an Indian father who would name his child after the first animal he saw.
The first was: Running Deer
The second: Soaring Eagle
The third: Squatting Dog
So I'd have to vote NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !

It is legal, anyone can name their children anything they want to. I think you are asking if people think it is morally ok to do so, in which case I think it is as long as it could really be a name: ie Fawn (woodland animal, girl in my 3rd grade class) or Alazay (Alcohol, my friend's daughter's name). However, Budwieser and Owl should never be someone's name!

Yes, it is legal, I know lots of girls named "Fawn" and "Screwdriver". I know this sounds sarcastic, just pointing out that, yeah you can name your daughter after a woodland critter or a drink, just have some class.

Why would a lawmaker care what you named your child as long as they grew to pay taxes.
I have a friend named Snowdeer and I have one named Carol..both are beautiful ppl.
I guess you could name your son Treebranch and Creek--I agree with the responder....."Whatever floats the parents boat" !!

Like Bambi or Brandy?
It should be legal to name your kids anything you want but you should consider how the public will judge your children by their names before naming them.

I saw a lady on YA that wanted to name her daughter Espen, but she wanted to spell it Espn, like the sports channel. No, it's tacky but shouldn't be illegal

No, it shouldn't. You don't know how many Alize's and Moet's I have come across. I even know a girl named Finlandria (her parents named her after Vodka). How pathetic.

No, and anyone named after any such thing should be summarily executed!
Oh, and by the way, I've just launched my new Micro-brew Daddy "d" Beer

Like Fawn or Margaux? Sure.
Like Beaver or Guiness. Legal, but really stupid.

that'd be an inappropriate form of censorship....
you'd hope that people would have enough sense though to give their kids names that they at the very least don't mind, and at best appreciate
why set a kid up to be teased?
