Pandora's box is a box that contained all the bad emotions in the world, such as greed, jealousy, hate etc. Zeus gave it to Pandora and told her not to open it, knowing full well that Pandora was very curious, and by opening it, Zeus could blame all the problems of man on this one woman (think Adam and Eve) After Pandora opened it, the bad things buzzed out and stung her and flew out to infest mankind, but Zeus did have mercy on mankind because also in the box was HOPE!

Pandora was given a magical box by the gods and was ordered to never open it. Her curiosity overwhelmed her and she did open it. Doing so released all the evils into the world. She finally managed to close the box, leaving only Hope inside. The moral of the story is that despite all the evils that exist in the world there is always hope that things will get better.

In Greek mythology, Pandora ("all gifted") was the first woman, fashioned by Zeus as part of the punishment of mankind for Prometheus' theft of the secret of fire. The myth of Pandora is very old, appears in several distinct versions, and has been interpreted in many ways. In all literary versions, however, the myth is a kind of theodicy, addressing the question of why there is evil in the world.: Hesiod, both in his Theogony (briefly, without naming Pandora outright, line 570) and in Works and Days, ca. 700 BC, has a very early told and literary version of the Pandora story. [1] In modern times, Pandora's Box has become a metaphor for the unanticipated consequences of technical and scientific development.
