I am not a fan of it because it is not feminine sounding at all. Being from TX, it always reminds me of Stockyard....not a good reference. I am not meaning this in a mean way, just so you no, just voicing my opinion.

I don't like it at all. The only person I have ever heard of with that name is Stockard Channing, and I still can't figure out what her parents were thinking. It sounds too much like being stuck in the stockade or like a stockyard. Either way, not a nice name. Definitely not something I would want to be called. What would her nickname be? Stocky? Yuck.

No, I'm not a fan of it. Stockard Channing's real name is actually Susan Stockard, so really the name is a surname after all. I think celebrities can get away with names that are so unusual, because it's only beneficial for them to set themselves apart so much. But for regular people, being so very different isn't necessarily a good thing.

I have to tell you, I'm not so into that whole "last name as a first name" trend, but if you like it, then I think Stockard is a good choice, because at least it's not one you hear all the time. (I work as a photographer at the Santa display at the mall, and if I see one more Peyton, Taylor, or Madison, I'm going to be sick!) However, you have to keep in mind that one of the things kids like to do is take a kid's name and make it into a mean name to call them. Stockard can be shortened to "Stocky" (not good; means fat), and ends in "ard" so kids might calll her Stock-turd or something like that. (Kids can get mighty creative when coming up with insults!) So just keep that in mind. But I do like Stockard Channing very much. She's my favorite Rizzo ever!!

Stockard is a unique name. But it might sound a little rough until she grows up.

Not really. It sounds like it would be a good boys name, but not for a girl. You have to think about the child when they are growing up and going to school. Remember back to when you were in school. Don't you remember that one kid who everyone picked on them because of their name. You don't want that to be your kid, and you to be the cause of all that heartache, do you? Try thinking that one over.

Well.....it's unique but I wouldn't go with that. Now Channing is pretty! But like most of the other people said it might be a mistake when she starts school!!!!

Sorry, no... I think it sounds like "stock yard" and that doesn't sound very feminine. It also starts with "stock" which makes me think of the word "stocky" or of things like "beef stock". How about the nickname "Kari" if that is your name, though? Or a silly nickname could be "Stockings" which sounds like Pippi Longstockings, one of the greatest fictional girls ever!
