Dr. 90210, TLC programs dealing with car accidents. They will show everything but the female nipple. Why? It's a brown piece of skin in the center of a breast. I don't understand why they must blur that small portion of the video...

I'm looking at my nipple now, it's no big deal...why do i have nipples anyway? another question for another day...

The female breasts have been associated more sexual function, than nutritional function. Nudity and sex in the United States have become taboo in the public forum. The female breasts, whose function is non-sexual, has taken on a sexual status. AND, since sexually charged items are highly censored on all public media forums in the United States, a woman's breast is considered to controversial for all ages public viewing. So if a 7 year old child is watching Dr. 90210 with her mother she might be scarred by the sight of female breasts. (Or so the censors believe).

To answer your second questions all humans(including men), have nipples to prove that humans are mammals. Remember that the distinguishing features of mammals, from whales to mice, are two: having hair and nursing their offspring. Granted the male of our species can not nurse, but thosenipples are there to remind us what species men are....and to let women know when men are cold (lol)

Medical ethics.

When a person is unconscious or injured the people caring for them have an obligation to treat them with dignity.

It is an issue of trust.

If this trust was broken on TV there would be strong grounds for a law suit as it would be completely unethical.

Showing a woman's nipples is socially unacceptable and could in some places lead to an arrest for indecent exposure, so it is reasonable to protect a female patient by covering them from the view of casual voyeurs (yes - that means you).

It's odd - the US gets all bent out of shape by a bit of boob-age on TV but is fine with violence - in other countries they don't get all up in arms about a little nudity.

Personally, I'd rather see a nipple than an open incision - ewwww. Maybe the patients requested it? It's odd, I agree.

mens nipples are not viewed as a sexual object in the same degree that womens nipples are. then you also have mayor sexual harassment issues.
