....i think i am becoming addicted to this site...off. I need to finish it by tomorrow and I'm not even half-way! Any good tips for making me get my bum in gear?

you need to switch this off! it's dead addictive isn't it? i'm at work now and really not doin anything.....
try to get your excuses out of the way, make a cuppa and a sarnie, shut yourself away and DON'T GO ON HERE!

I know exactly how you feel. I have 4 essays due in the next 4 weeks. 24th, 1st, 6th & 14th. All 3000 words, besides the last; that's 6000.
It's getting to the point where i go to bed at 3am, & still can't sleep till 7am.
What I do is set artificial deadlines for myself. I pretend to myself that the essays due in a week, not a fornight. It gets your bum in gear. Sometimes that doesn't work though. I always just double-think & laugh at the futility of trying to trick myself, when it's me who set the fake deadline....
The best thing to do is to do essay's piece by piece. Do a paragraph at a time. At the moment I've done one of my essays besides the conclusion, possibly the hardest part for me, I'm too scatter-brained... but at least one's done. Once you get to third year Masters, you really need to lose the "zero-hour" writing.

Sign out of this site! Yes it is addictive and since I discovered it last week I don't want to go out, i sit in a dark room shaking 'till i can get on yahoo answers! i have an essay due in less than three weeks and i haven't even read the material yet! No hope for me then!

Try to finish the essay before you log back onto this site or some other reward. Basically get bad stuff out of the way first and then reward self for sticking with it.

Turn off the computer. Listen to some really loud motivating music. Think of the outcome of getting this done (if in college, say "In order to become a "insert here" I must do this).
if worse comes to worse, get yourself out of that surrounding because there is too much distraction. Go to a library if necessary. Good Luck

this might be helpful.
ask a question and then go concentrate and do your essay and when you are finished with it, come back and check for any answers on your question.
